Deepening its four-decade legacy in Jammu & Kashmir, Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) has secured a major Rs 524.17-crore contract from NHPC. The 27-month project focuses on rehabilitating the concrete dam's undersluices at the Salal Power Station to optimize sediment management and long-term safety.
Having originally built the 690 MW plant back in 1987, HCC continues to anchor the region's energy backbone—its regional hydro portfolio accounts for roughly 38% of J&K's total hydropower capacity. From monumental dams to engineering feats like the Anji Khad cable-stayed bridge, HCC remains a cornerstone of infrastructural growth in the Himalayas.
